This Is Exactly What To Do If You Or Someone Else Is Choking: And The Tool Every Single Person Needs That's Not Optional!

If You Or Someone Is Choking Right Now, Do This Immediately:
- If the person choking can cough forcefully, let the person keep coughing.
Coughing might naturally remove the stuck object.

- If a person can't cough, talk, cry, or laugh forcefully, give first aid to the person.

The American Red Cross recommends the following steps:
For Yourself (If You're Alone):
- Lean over a chair back, counter edge, or railing

- Press your upper abdomen against the edge and thrust upward

- Or make a fist and thrust it inward and upward below your ribcage

For Adults and Children Over 1 Year Old:

Give Five Back Blows.
- Stand to the side and just behind a choking adult. For a child, kneel down behind. Place your arm across the person's chest to support the person's body. Bend the person over at the waist to face the ground. Strike five separate times between the person's shoulder blades with the heel of your hand.

Give Five Abdominal Thrusts.
- If back blows don't remove the stuck object, give five abdominal thrusts, also known as the Heimlich maneuver.

- Alternate between five blows and five thrusts until the blockage is dislodged.

What If This Doesn’t Work, And You Or Someone Else Is Still Choking
Call 911.
- Give all the information to the 911 operator and have them send out first responders immediately

Use An Airway Clearing Device
- An airway clearing device, like the Prepared Hero Choking Rescue Device, uses suction to remove any blockages from an airway.

Choking Is Deadlier Than Many People Think
